If you’ve been with me for a while you know I place a great deal of emphasis on thought life. You also know that I often discuss how most of our thought life occurs in the recesses of our minds where we are unaware of them; in our SUBconscious. A large part of my work, however, is to help individuals excavate the information dwelling in the unknown and make it known to them.

To do this, there is a process, a set of rules and standards, that we must adhere to – SUB standards if you will.

The first thing you have to understand about anything SUB is that it refers to under, lower, or the after. SUB does not mean less than, inferior, or inept.

Because these subconscious thoughts are buried deep, they often bubble up when least expected. They can cause embarrassment, miscommunication and mishaps. The key to managing these thoughts is to bring them to the forefront of your mind.

It’s hard to manifest what you want for your life when something is hindering you. It’s even harder when you don’t know it’s there. But if you pay close attention your mind will be sure to inform you what it’s thinking.

That’s right, your mind has a method for letting you know when it has something to unload…it’s called life’s little slip-ups.

Yes, the slip-ups in your life – the emotional outbursts, the Freudian slips – these things are your mind’s way of expelling what is trapped in the subconscious. You are constantly filtering and expelling what’s at the forefront of your mind, but the same cannot be said of your subconscious. That is why it must undergo the task on its own.

The beauty of it, however, is that when you do recognize what’s happening in your subconscious and you bring it to the forefront to be addressed, it’s now CONSCIOUS thought. And we all know how powerful our conscious thoughts can be, especially when we remain positive and empowered.

So how do you ensure that your subconscious thoughts don’t become hurdles in the way of your destiny?

1. Do a daily reflection – At the end of each day, reflect on its events and how you felt about them. Be careful not to swallow your emotions or disregard things. If you feel something say something. It may not be right away, it may not even be the next day, but take the time to gather yourself so you can clearly (and calmly) articulate your emotions.

2. Take your slip-ups and outspills seriously – When you have an emotional outburst or a Freudian slip, examine it thoroughly. There is something in your subconscious trying to get out. By continually suppressing it, you give it the power to overpower you. If you remain unaware of what is bothering you then you cannot acknowledge it or effectively address and resolve it.

The more adept you become at drawing your underlying thoughts to your conscious, the better equipped you are to manifest tour destiny. Good luck!

Namaste.
